Issue Statement: The City of Oakland Park was awarded $100,000 from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Cooperative (Co-op) Grant Program to partially fund the City's Bid Pack 8 project, also referred to as the East South Zone Stormwater Project. The Bid Pack 8 Project is an infrastructure improvement project that addresses water, drainage, and road way improvements across 318 acres in the southeast section of the City. (Exhibit A)
Recommended Solution: City Commisssion adopt a resolution to accept $100,000 in grant funding for the Bid Pack 8 project. The project would entail flood reduction, water quality improvements, and present opportunity for new facility construction by removing aging, inefficient infrastructure.
The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Cooperative Funding Initiative is a grant matching program which allows local governments to share costs for projects that assist in creating sustainable water resources, provide flood protection and enhance conservation efforts. City staff applied for the grant in April of 2016 and acquired Consultants from Calvin, Giordano & Associates (CGA) to assist with Bid Pack 8 project management activities. Staff presented a PowerPoint preview of the Bid Pack 8 activities to Commission during the September 21, 2016 Commission meeting.
