Report from Mr. Jeff Heyler, City representative to the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport Advisory Board (AAB).
In April 2009, a small plan crashed into the North Andrews Gardens neighborhood. Due to safety concerns of the residents of the area, the Commission agreed to pursue representation on the Executive Airport Advisory Board. Fort Lauderdale modified its Airport Advisory Board (AAB) ordinance to allow for the City to appoint a non-voting member to the board. In June 2010, the City Commission appointed Jeff Heyler to represent the City in this capacity.
AVIATION ADVISORY BOARD MISSION
"To recommend to the City of Fort Lauderdale City Commission action necessary for the planning, development, construction, enlargement, improvement, maintenance, operation, regulation, and policing of airports owned, operated, and controlled by the City of Fort Lauderdale."
The Aviation Advisory Board meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 1:30 p.m. in the Executive Airport Administrative Office Board Room.
