Every December, the City celebrates the outstanding members of our Volunteer Corps with a recognition and awards program. This year, we will be celebrating our volunteers with a reception and dinner in the Barrel Room at Funky Buddha Brewery, followed by a recognition and awards ceremony.
The City is extremely grateful to all the volunteers who have continued to step forward to assist with the numerous events and programs the City has to offer. This year, we will recognize volunteers in several categories:
Volunteer Team Of The Year: James Recovery & Foundation Center
James Recovery & Foundation Center has made strides in giving back to the community by way of volunteering 163 hours. They have taken nearly every opportunity presented to them, even if it is last minute. For the City's first National Good Neighbor Day, a team of over 15 volunteers assisted. To name a few other opportunities, they have taken part in our Annual Tree Giveaway, Park Clean-ups, Neighborhood Clean-ups and Adopt-A-Street.

Chen Senior Medical Center has played an important part in our 55+ Active Adults Program. The Center has spent numerous hours offering multiple free activities to our community, and it has assisted with home deliveries, delivering of information to the vulnerable population, and assisting staff on trips, outings and special events. Chen Senior Medical Center has accumulated 158 hours of volunteer time.
Youth Volunteer Of The Year: Myah Pierre
Myah Pierre volunteered at the 2022 City of Oakland Park Summer Camp program. During that time, Myah volunteered over 140 hours, helping in all areas of the program. Myah was an exemplary volunteer who took pride in making connections with the children in our program and who had a positive impact on those around her. Myah always asked where she could lend a helping hand and did so with a smile on her face.

Pat Crowley has accumulated the most volunteer hours this past year with a total of 193 hours. Pat has volunteered in almost every City event this past year, along with volunteering in our Parks and Leisure Services Department and City Clerk's Office, on a weekly basis. She is dependable in taking the lead on projects and tasks assigned. She tracks all volunteer hours and is on the graffiti patrol, just to name a few of the many hats she wears.
