The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program (Budget Awards Program) in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality.
The goal is for the budgets to reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting. The GFOA then to recognizes individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
To earn the Budget Award, governments must conform to the program’s demanding criteria, which incorporate the guidelines of the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s recommended practices of governmental budgeting.
This is the 15th consecutive year that the City has earned the Award.
