As Broward County implemented the Phased Reopening Plan. The County is seeking a cooperative effort with cities to safely reopen and stop the spread of COVID-19. To further this effort, Broward County will work in conjunction with cities to assist with enforcement of the Broward County Emergency Orders related to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
In furtherance of this effort, the County established a centralized reporting mechanism through the 311 system. Residents and businesses may report any concerns or suspected violations of Emergency Orders through either the 311 telephone system or a County web application. Cities will be trained to access the system, follow-up, and report outcomes of registered complaints. Cities may also input new complaints directly. The County will provide City staff with training and web based tutorials.
This partnership will provide residents a centralized system for reporting concerns and give the City the ability to work with businesses to achieve compliance. The County’s intention is for the system to generate an online dashboard that can be shared.
Pursuant to the ILA, the City shall follow the code enforcement process of the individually cities. Fines assessed against any person and liens recorded against any property for enforcement action taken by the City pursuant to the Agreement shall be collected by City.
