SUBJECT: Special Magistrate's Recommendations Regarding Impasse between International Association of Firefighters/MBPFF Local 3080 and the City of Oakland Park
1.BACKGROUND/HISTORY
    
 

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City and IAFF (MBPFF Local 3080) agreed to forego live impasse hearings before a Special Magistrate and to submit evidence and arguments for their positions in writing to the Special Magistrate. The initial submissions were due May 19, 2020. Each side then submitted written rebuttals and written replies to the rebuttals.

 

On Thursday, September 17, 2020, the parties received the written recommendations from Special Magistrate James Stokes.

 

A brief summary from Labor Counsel describing the legal process for impasse proceedings is attached for reference. The parties are currently at Step 7 of the process.
