Fee Schedule - Chapter 6 

An ordinance amending City of Oakland Park Code of Ordinances, Chapter 6 - Fire Prevention, Suppression and Protection to transfer fees from the text of the Municipal Code to a separate schedule to be adopted by resolution.

 

1.BACKGROUND/HISTORY
    
 

Legislative History: On October 6, 2021, the City Commission voted 5-0 to adopt the ordinance on first reading.

 

Issue StatementIn an effort to increase efficiency and create a more user-friendly approach, over the past year the City has been reviewing City fees and incorporating City fees into a Fee Schedule/Book. Staff is proposing to update Fire Department  fees and is seeking to remove the current fees from City Ordinance and incorporate these into a comprehensive user-friendly Fee Booklet of City Fees adopted via resolution.

 

Recommended Action: Staff recommends that the City Commission: A) conduct a public hearing and adopt the Ordinance on second reading amending Chapter 6– Fire Prevention, Suppression and Protection, Article I. - In General, Sections 6-8, 6-12; Article III. - Fireworks, Section 6-66; Article IV. – Hazardous Substances, Section 6-69; and Article V. – User fees for ambulance services, Section 6-70 and B) adopt a resolution approving the proposed Fee Schedule.

 

 

 

 

2.CURRENT ACTIVITY
    
 

 Staff recommends amending the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 6 – Fire Prevention, Suppression and Protection, and updating the fees to be set by Resolution.  The resolution adopting the new fee schedule is being provided with the second reading of the proposed ordinance. 

 

At this time, the Fire Fees have not been adjusted and will be presented for adjustment along with the budget process.  

 

The proposed changes do not affect the City's fire assessment program and rates.

3.FINANCIAL IMPACT
    
 
No changes are being proposed to the rates at this time. 
4.RECOMMENDATION
    
 Staff recommends that the City Commission: A) conduct a public hearing and adopt the Ordinance on second reading amending Chapter 6– Fire Prevention, Suppression and Protection, Article I. - In General, Sections 6-8, 6-12; Article III. - Fireworks, Section 6-66; Article IV. – Hazardous Substances, Section 6-69; and Article V. – User fees for ambulance services, Section 6-70 and B) adopt a resolution approving the proposed Fee Schedule.
