SUBJECT: Volunteer Recognition Awards
1.BACKGROUND/HISTORY

Every December, the City celebrates the outstanding members of our Volunteer Corps with a recognition and awards program.  This year, we will be back celebrating our volunteers with a reception and dinner in the Barrel Room at Funky Buddha Brewery, followed by a recognition and awards ceremony.  As we continue to limit large groups in Commission Chambers, we will not conduct the in-person awards presentation as in years past.  However, we will present an Annual Volunteer Report to Commission on this date.  A recording of the reception and dinner will be made available for viewing at a later date.

The City is extremely grateful to all the volunteers who have continued to step forward to assist with numerous events, especially during the pandemic. This year, we will recognize volunteers in several categories.

Volunteer Team Of The Year:  Presented to 17 individuals who assisted at our vaccination pods.

Volunteer Business Partner Of The Year:  Presented to Starbucks for their team effort at our food distributions and support of our Volunteer Celebration recognizing last year’s award winners.

Youth Volunteer Of The Year:  Alpha Hicks, who performed nearly 200 hours of volunteer service in our After School Program as a Leader In Training.

Volunteer Of The Year:  Linda Yarrish, who performed over 350 hours of service maintaining our Oakland Park Bark Park.
