Issue Statement: The Central Region Large User Wastewater Agreement expires on December 31, 2021. The City of Fort Lauderdale has sent an updated agreement for review by all Large Users, but comments and revisions will not be completed and approved by December 31. An amendment to extend the Agreement for 90 days (until March 31, 2022) is requested to allow municipalities time to finalize a new agreement.
Recommended Action: City Commission adopt a resolution for the proper City official to execute an amendment to the Central Region Large User Wastewater Agreement, extending the term until March 31, 2022.
Background: The City of Oakland Park has been part of the Broward County Central Region Large User Wastewater System since its creation in 1982. The Central Region is operated by the City of Fort Lauderdale. The Large User Agreement between the Cities of Fort Lauderdale and Oakland Park provides for payments and annual rate setting criteria for the operational, replacement and repair, and capital improvement funding as defined in a 20-year schedule.
The current agreement is set to expire on December 31, 2021.
