SUBJECT: Arts and Culture Board  - Appointment of Three (3) Members
1.BACKGROUND/HISTORY
    
 

Issue Statement: Board Members Brenda Ramirez, Hayley Pedersen, and Duane Smith's terms expire September 2022. Members Ms. Ramirez, and Mr. Smith, request consideration for re-appointment. Ms. Pedersen resigned due to her resent move. There is one (1) additional applications presented for consideration.

 

Recommendation Action:  By consensus, the City Commission appoint three members to serve on the Art and Culture Board for terms expiring September 2024.

 

The Art and Culture Board -
(A) Established. There is hereby established a public art board which shall serve in an advisory capacity to the city commission.

 

(B) Membership. The board shall constitute of seven (7) members each appointed by the city commission for an initial term of one (1) year or two (2) years. Thereafter, the appointments shall be for a term of two (2) years. The seven (7) members shall, if possible, consist of: Seven (7) members, four (4) of whom shall be residents of Oakland Park, chosen from among the professional categories of architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, art education, professional artists, or those knowledgeable in the field of public or private art, art education, architecture or community affairs.

Two board members have confirmed they would like to continue to serve. There is also one (1) additional application attached for consideration. The Arts and Culture Board meets the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
