The Oakland Park Community Redevelopment Plan was approved by the Broward County Commission in December 2005. The Plan includes recommended Capital Improvement Projects, Public/Private Partnerships and Policies and Programs.
In 2011, the CRA engaged Redevelopment Management Associates (RMA) to develop a Five Year Strategic Plan. The 2011-2016 Plan was adopted by the CRA Board in December 2011. The Strategic Plan had four focus areas:

During the 5 Year Plan period, progress was made on all projects except 3200 N. Dixie sites through private or public investment.
1. Oakland Station- Funky Buddha, Prodeco, and Alberte’s
2. Sikes Property- sold to Allied Kitchen and Bath, redeveloped
3. Squires Block (Park Plaza) - sold to Robert Roselli, under redevelopment
4. 3200 N. Dixie Highway- property listed for sale
5. 3700 NE 12th Block Parking Plaza- completed
6. West Dixie City Lots/Jaco Park- Grand Plaza completed
7. Kmart Site- sold to Walmart, under redevelopment
8. NE 12th Terrace/Middle River- The Point at Middle River project
9. South Gateway to Downtown- Archway completed
10. North End Urban Residential Site – Eastside Village project
11. Watts Estate Site- Oakland Preserve project
12. Oakland Park Festival Center- Private development
13. Prospect Plaza Shopping Center- parking lot renovation complete
The CRA also made considerable progress in branding the Culinary Arts District ("CAD"). Many new events, including Music on Main, Culinary Arts Showcase, Holiday Village and Taste of Oakland Park are putting the CAD on the map as a destination. Wayfinding banners were installed. The Grand Plaza at Jaco Park was constructed with a beautiful fountain. A number of complimentary articles have appeared in local magazines regarding the district's development and new businesses are locating in the CAD.
